Welcome to my third digital scrapbook. As I’ve noted in previous writeups, these have been fun, creative outlets to journal and reflect. Plus, it allows me more easily share an update with family and friends regardless of their communication and social media platforms.

Rose Garden
I was fortunate to arrive Thursday morning and meet up with my sister-in-law, Megan. This gave us an extra day of exploring, and I followed along to International Rose Test Garden at Washington Park. I deferred to Megan on what photos to include. Despite botanical gardens not being my top-of-list activities, I was quite impressed with the size of this garden.

Huckleberry picking
On Friday, my cousin, Nick, picked Megan and me to go huckleberry picking in Mount Hood National Forest. I had never had a huckleberry before. They grow low-rising bushes and a bit tart. The picking was quite easy, as some full (by huckleberry standards) bushes were along the road. We were able to drive right up to them and fill the containers.

Columbia River Gorge
Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area On Saturday morning, my brother, Chad, his wife, Megan, and I went exploring east of Portland in the Columbia River Gorge. We parked and walked to Multnomah Falls. If you have family or friends that have visited Portland before, these are the most famous waterfalls in the area – enough to have a lengthy Wikipedia article. However, you can go on a hike back to the Fairy Falls and Wahkeena Falls.
The birthday party
My uncle and aunt live on a beautiful acreage between Portland and Mount Hood, outside of Sandy, OR. The people, weather, and setting were all perfect for the gathering.
For my aunt’s 70th birthday, it was 70s theme, so we put on fun outfits.
